Asocio-Medical Study on Menopausal Symptoms of Korean Women in Urban Area

Abstract
|
|
|
In order to know menopausal status of the Korean Women from the staud point of public health nursing a socio-medical study was conducted on 1011 Korean women living in Kwangju city area during the period from March 1969 to July 1969, and the following results were obtained;
1) The average age of menarche and menopause was 16.0 and 47. 4 years respectivily and the average reproductive live period was 31.4 yeers.
2) Among various the menopausal bymptoms excepting of complaing neuralgic pains(65%) and diminished livids (63. 1%) the mejority of menopausal women have passed this transitional period without feeling any dificulties.
3) As to the emotional changes the majerity of the women felt that they have become more susceptible postmenopausally than ever before.
4) Approximately 79% of women has not had on experience of medical remedy on the menopausal symptoms.
